Thyroid - THP Function

The Thyroid is the portion of the endocrine system responsible for secreting the hormones that control the rate at which the body’s cells burn fuel for energy (metabolism), makes proteins, and its sensitivity to other hormones.

This gland can have a profound impact on both the physical and emotional well being of the individual, and some of the symptoms include exhaustion, insomnia, depression, anxiety, fluid retention, weight gain/loss, muscle weakness, poor libido, palpitations, shortness of breath, diarrhoea/constipation, heat/cold intolerance, infertility, etc.

In today’s society, Thyroid dysfunctions are becoming more common. Major causes of these imbalances are improper nutrition, iodine deficiency, some drugs, lack of nutrients in the soil, toxicity caused by modern lifestyles, direct injury to the Thyroid and of course stress.

As the Thyroid is controlled by the Hypothalamus and Pituitary, we look at the interaction between theses glands as part of the session.
